It’s no surprise that Cadillac is desperate to increase market share and take the fight to Mercedes and BMW. The new CT6 has set its LED mascara’d eyes directly on the 7-series and S Class while the yet-to-be-renamed ATS and CTS are taking on the 3-series and 5-series respectively. While those outings have met with awards and acclaim on the journalistic side of things, sales have been less than earth-shattering.
With the new XT5 set to take the reins from the Cadillac SRX, the brands best-selling model, Cadillac needs this replacement to be a big hit. Judging by the extensive use of lightweight construction processes being used in other models and an increased focus on bringing technology into the cabin with concepts like Continuous Damping Control and Cadillac’s electronic Rear Camera Mirror, Cadillac looks to be pulling out all the stops in order to make a splash in one of the market’s most profitable segments.
Set to go on sale in early 2016, the XT5 is the embodiment of Cadillac swinging for the fences. Whether or not it’s a home-run, well we will have to wait and see but things are looking good.
